BSW Marquees has supplied a permanent marquee at Newlands Hall in Chelmsford, Essex for around 20 years.
The tent itself is one big traditional style marquee but over the years Newlands Hall have built a complete kitchen, bar and toilets within the actual marquee. The whole structure sits on a solid concrete base. The marquee is used by Newlands to host weddings, corporate events and any other private hire function. The marquee is heated and once inside it has that unique marquee type feel but with the all benefits of an indoor venue – easy catering access, carpeted floors and heating.
We replace the marquee every couple years and like all marquees supplied by BSW this has been hand made by Simon, my cousin and partner, with a small team at our depot in Braintree, Essex. We use traditional patterns and techniques. It is quite a job to hand make a marquee like this and then construct it on site. Simon spent January making the marquee and during 3 days of dry weather in February we took the old marquee down and constructed the new one. It is vital that we get this done in one day as we cannot leave any of the ‘buildings’ uncovered. Their carpet and dance floor all remains in situ as well. See the timelapse video below.
