We have done literally thousands of weddings in Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Hertfordshire since we started BSW Marquees over 40 years ago. When it comes to a wedding marquee we are very experienced. We have done large weddings – 500 hundred people at a private home in Ongar to a smaller affairs with 30 guests, most recently in Brentwood in Essex. We have done annexes to stately homes in Norfolk to terrace houses in Romford, traditional canvas marquees to frame marquees. We have done fancy dress weddings, humanist weddings, even a couple of ‘gypsy weddings’. But all weddings without exception are similar in one, obvious, way – it has to be exactly as the bride and groom want. And to get that right takes a little planning.
In my experience most of our wedding bookings are made 6 to 9 months in advance. Last week I quoted on a couple of weddings in 2015. But then again we have actually provided a wedding marquee at a week’s notice (another marquee company let the customer down). We can react very quickly if needed.
The first choice is the style of marquee. There are really only two styles available: traditional style marquee or frame style (clearspan) marquee. There are advantages and disadvantages with both types but a traditional marquee has poles and ropes whilst a frame or clearspan marquee is freestanding and can be butted up against another building of structure.
Although this is still early season for us, we are supplying marquees for two weddings to be held this weekend in Essex on Saturday the 3rd May 2014. One is in Chelmsford, the other in Willingale. One is to seat 42 guests, the other 150.
At BSW we prefer to let our customers decide on the type and style of marquee that they want. We offer free impartial advice. We have a huge range of all marquee types in stock so that we can offer you the right option to suit you, not what suits us. We do not believe in forcing customers into ‘packages’. In my opinion ‘packages’ are often misleading and can end up as a more expensive option whilst not giving you what you really want.
